In a disparate world, children are a unifying force capable of bringing us all together in support of a common ethic.

Protecting Dignity, Ending Slavery
On Monday night 150 people showed up for our panel discussion on Human Trafficking, held at the Presbyterian Church of the Apostles in Burnsville. The evening's content was powerful. The four panelists were: Dr. Lauren Martin, U of MN researcher, Suzanne Koepplinger, Executive Director of the MN Indian Women's Resource Center, Joy Friedman, with Breaking Free, and a survivor of being trafficked, and Michele McKenzie, Advocacy Director and attorney, The Advocates for Human Rights.

The panelists each spoke about their work on the issue of human trafficking, which ranged from research in North Minneapolis, to working with victims of trafficking and the traffickers themselves. They also covered Minnesota trafficking legislation and offered suggestions for how audience members can raise awareness to change social perceptions and stigmas that perpetuate this human rights violation.
